It’s the heart of wedding season, and we have found ourselves busy sharing all of the wonderful weddings we have photographed this summer. To switch it up today we thought it would be fun to highlight family portraits, and how a wedding can be the start of a couple’s family portraits.
We enjoy developing a bond with the couples we photograph, so when they are ready to start a family we love being able to document that as well. Emily and Jeff are a great example of this. We photographed their wedding a few years ago, and their maternity session a few weeks ago at the UVA gardens. We are so excited to meet their new baby next month! Another one of our past wedding couples, the Carter family, wanted to celebrate their sons first birthday at Pharsalia, the place where they said “I do”.
It’s amazing that we get to document such great moment’s in the lives of our couples. We get to see the change and progression in their lives as they grow from a couple into a family, and then their family expands eventually reaching multiple generations! Getting to capture these changing times during the summer months when the weather is perfect, is why summertime family portraits are a must for everyone!

We loved that the Turner family chose to do family portraits with their son to commemorate a special time in their life. We enjoyed that they chose to do their session on the Blue Ridge Parkway, as they are quite the outdoor adventurers!
The Roberts family chose to do their portrait session at their parents home at Wintergreen Resort. It was so special to get to photograph the three generations in a spot that meant so much to them
