Cynthia and Charlie are two of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet, and the perfect match for each other! Looking back at the timing of their wedding, it was a perfect storm of terrible circumstances, and great chance. One month before the wedding I took a tour of their wedding site and it was starting to flurry. At the time it was a blank canvas. They spent the next month literally building their DIY spring wedding venue from scratch on their private family farm! There wasn’t even a road, and in one month they not only put in a road, but built the most amazing tented wedding venue that has the most gorgeous views! It was even going to be one of the warmest spring days on record fo 80 degrees in March! Then 5 days before their wedding the Pandemic became very real.
Like many wedding couples these days, Cynthia and Charlie faced the difficult decision whether to continue with their wedding or cancel. Having already built their wedding from scratch, they decided to downsize their wedding and host a small, intimate wedding ceremony with close family members on their private family farm as originally planned.
It was one of the most touching and amazing experiences seeing everyone pull together for them, and we were beyond honored to be a part of their beautiful DIY wedding. The candid moments of them in the peach blossoms are some of my favorites, as it perfectly captures their amazing relationship. It’s also a great reminder during this terrible time that love always wins!
If you’re considering a non-traditional wedding and are searching for some DIY wedding inspiration, take a page out of Cynthia and Charlie’s book! We loved everything about Cynthia and Charlie’s private farm wedding! Every little detail from their spring wedding had special meaning. And, it was incredibly beautiful how they blended elements from their backgrounds in farming into their wedding day details. The pine wedding details represent Charlie’s family farm in Massachusetts; he even used wood from his family farm to build the venue including the floor, wall, entry, and tables! The peach blossoms were in peak bloom for this spring wedding and represented Cynthia’s side of the family. And, we adored their springtime peach blossom cake by Paradox Pastry, which looked almost too pretty to eat!
Thank you so much, Cynthia and Charlie, for allowing us to be a part of your gorgeous spring wedding day!
