Aerial photography is such a unique and special aspect of being a photographer, especially in the Charlottesville area. It gives us the opportunity to immerse our viewers, both in the area and beyond, in the culture here and illustrate the beauty of Charlottesville. The Blue Ridge Mountains definitely provide us with the most stunning, scenic backdrop for pictures. Images captured above from the use of a drone allows viewers to enjoy an escape any time of the year. Whether it’s fall with nature’s grandest color display of red, orange, purple, and yellow leaves or spring with colorful flowers blooming and lush greenery every where, aerial photographs capture the beauty of all four seasons. The use of a drone also allows us to illustrate the full grandeur of the estates and venues in the surrounding area.
The history of aerial photography is absolutely fascinating to us. One of the more surprising facts we’ve learned is that aerial photography dates all the way back to the mid-19th century! From kites to hot air balloons, photographers used aerial pictures to illustrate popular cities, environmental disasters, and wartime. While we no longer use things like carrier pigeons to capture those shots and more, aerial photography has continued to grow as the decades passed and technology boomed.
Although going up in a plane to capture aerial shots remains commonplace and traditional, the popularity of the drone is completely changing the game of aerial photography. With new and exciting developments, the drone is becoming more accessible and affordable than ever. And the desire of having a bird’s-eye view of the world remains high! We are so fortunate to be a part of this new wave of commercial photography in the Charlottesville area, and being drone pilots has been a ton of fun! But, it definitely required a bit of practice and skill-acquisition on our part! We have truly captured some awe-inspiring images that we are so excited to share on the blog today.
We definitely have the best seat in the house as drone photographers in Charlottesville, Virginia. But, we would never want to keep these beautiful and magnificent images to ourselves, so we hope you enjoy these just as much as we do!
