Rachel & Erik created a wedding that we will never forget, we’re calling it the blue bird wedding! One of our favorite wedding themes we’ve ever seen!
Last fall we had the opportunity to get to know Rachel & Erik during their engagement session, which made our best of 2015 engagements. We captured some of our favorite engagement pictures to date from their session, and was thrilled to see that one of the pictures made their save the date cards! Rachel also designed their wedding invitations, and did a fantastic job! We love seeing the personal touches couples bring into their wedding!
From bird cages on the tables, to blue birds on the wedding cake, and even two live blue birds, there were many beautiful details that brought to life their blue bird wedding theme! You may think the theme was based upon the couple being “love birds”, however the meaning touches even deeper. The blue bird held the special meaning of representing the presence of Rachel’s father, who was with them in spirit on this beautiful day. After hearing Rachel’s very touching story, their wedding planner, Cinda Hoege of White Birch Events, surprised the couple with two live blue birds at their wedding. We absolutely adored this, and are constantly amazed by how Cinda always goes 110% for her couples.
The Chapel at Trump Winery truly fitting for a romantic first look. The pictures tell all.
Rachel’s bridal bouquet was filled with white garden flowers – peonies, garden roses with light blue Bella Donna delphinium. We loved all of the whimsical floral arrangements designed by Amy Webb of Blue Ridge Floral Design.
The bridesmaid bouquets were a combination of blue hydrangeas, peach roses, peach hypericom berries and Queen Annes Lace.
The lively personalities that made up their wedding party really made for some fun pictures!
Albemarle Estate is the stunning bed and breakfast located at Trump Winery, and where Rachel & Erik spent the first two nights of their honeymoon! They truly have some of the most stunning gardens in the Charlottesville area. We photographed their engagement session in the same location last fall. The picture above was recreated to match a similar picture taken during their engagement.
Erik’s last name is Breuhaus, so they decided to play on that and have a beer garden cocktail hour theme. Every guest was gifted with their very own beer stein as a favor, which also doubled as their escort card.
Their reception was held in the stunning Grand Cru Ballroom in the Trump Winery Grand Hall. Small florals on every table were enclosed in a white vintage like bird cage and complimented by these adorable bird figures as name holders.
The reception was taken to a whole new level once the couple brought out light up tambourines for the dance party. The unique reception idea kept everyone dancing late into the night.
Rachel & Erik closed the night with a sparkler exit and to top it off rode away in a horse and carriage ride by Breckenridge Carriage – this was truly a fairytale wedding! Congratulations again Rachel & Erik, we wish you two the very best in your marriage!
