Katie & Royal's Wedding at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, VA

The Jefferson Hotel Entrance

It was a rainy morning when we made the drive to Katie & Royal’s wedding at The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, VA but that wasn’t going to keep this couple from celebrating like the sun was shining! We began the day with Katie and her bridesmaid’s while they finished makeup, exchanged gifts and got dressed in the lavish Governor’s Suite. The room was full of laughter as everyone prepared for the upcoming ceremony, and of course the Father of the Bride seeing his daughter for the first time is always a special moment we love to capture. This time though it felt even more special as you could tell Katie and her dad were trying their hardest to hold back tears of happiness.

Katie and Royal were married at Sts. Helen and Constantine Greek Orthodox Cathedral during a traditional Greek Orthodox ceremony. Being a part of a wedding rooted in such meaningful traditions made for a special celebration. You’ll see pictures below of when the couple is presented with two crowns that are attached by a white ribbon symbolizing unity between the couple. Following this, the couple is led around the altar three times as a ritual dance representing the couples first steps as a married couple. We were honored to capture the beginning of Katie and Royal’s life together. Jefferson Suite

We were thrilled to be able to use the balcony attached to the suite for pictures, which resulted in stunning bridal portraits of Katie, capturing her simple elegance! One of my favorite details was her lace dress with a keyhole back and cap sleeve that encompassed a 1920’s glamour!
